1952- Mandela opened first Black Law firm in South Africa.
1944- found the ANC Youth League.
1949- Programme of Action adopted by ANC.
1952- Defiance Campaign and later acts of sabotage.
1960- Sharpeville massacre of 63 black South African’s changed the whole political climat.
1962- Mandela arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment in the notorious Island prison.
1990- Mandela released from prison.
1994- Mandela inaugurated as the first democratically elected State President of South Africa.
1999- President until June 1999.
1993- Mandela awarded the Nobel Peace Prizejointly with F.W. De Klerk.
